How to stay productive while traveling

If you’ve ever traveled for work, you’re no stranger to how challenging it can be to stay productive while on the road. The exciting new sights and sounds can distract us from our original goals. Here are a few tips to stay productive while traveling so that you can make the most out of your time away.

Schedule blocks of time for work

In general, traveling is something that demands a lot of time and energy. The time that is dedicated to getting from point A to point B and the exhaustion that comes with it can be enough to prevent us from getting done what we originally set out to.

To stay productive, one of the best things you can do for yourself is pre-plan when you are going to work. Take a serious look at the time you have on your hands, and when it will be most convenient to put your head down and get some tasks done. This can be 30 minutes or an hour, but the more deliberate you are about scheduling some work in the better.

Additionally, plan what it is that you want to get done. Have a to-do list with prioritized tasks!

Pre-plan where you’re going to work

If you don’t know exactly where you’re going to work, you might be setting yourself up for failure without even knowing it. Google a café and make sure it has Wi-Fi so that you actually have the resources you’ll need to be productive.  How frustrating would it be to show up somewhere to work without a place to sit or an internet connection?

Schedule breaks

One of the best tips to stay productive is scheduling breaks in your workflow. Working without a break can dull your focus, making it harder to finish what you originally set out to do.

Take advantage of your scheduled break to refuel and recharge, which includes grabbing a snack like your favorite, easy to pack XSTM Sports Nutrition Bar.  Set some time aside to go out and explore, so that when you finally do sit down to grind, you aren’t distracted and daydreaming about the sites, smells, and sounds of your new environment.

Planning and scheduling are essential to ensuring you stay focused and productive on your work tasks and goals, which will set you up for success while travelling.
