George Calvert, Ph.D., oversees all global supply chain operations for Amway. He is responsible for manufacturing, distribution, demand planning, purchasing, project management, contract sales, global trade, facilities engineering, and all farming operations. In addition, he oversees Metagenics, Inc., a $350 million global lifestyle medicine company owned by Amway’s parent company Alticor.
Calvert is also a member of Amway’s executive staff, the company’s top advisory team to the Office of the Chief Executive, composed of Amway chairman Steve Van Andel and President Doug DeVos.
Calvert’s dedication to supporting Amway Business Owners with innovative, quality products began when he joined the company in 1989 as a group leader in analytical services. He served in various leadership positions within product development, including manager of nutrition research and development and senior manager of home tech research and development. He then moved to quality assurance and analytical services as the director of these functions and was responsible for the company’s business innovations function. He had oversight of all Amway’s research and development operations as vice president for 15 years.
Calvert earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the College of William and Mary, and a doctorate in analytical chemistry from the University of South Carolina. After holding a board of directors position on the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), the nation’s leading trade association representing the personal care products and cosmetics industry since 2009, he now serves as its board chairman. He previously served as board chairman for the Soap and Detergent Association (SDA), and a member of the board of directors for Interleukin Genetics, Inc.
