As general counsel and secretary, Michael Mohr is responsible for managing Amway’s legal and governmental affairs division and the legal and international governmental affairs function for Amway in more than 100 countries and territories. He is a member of Amway’s executive staff, the company’s top advisory team to the Office of the Chief Executive, composed of Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel and President Doug DeVos. Mohr also serves as secretary and counsel to the Alticor Board of Directors, the parent company of Amway.
Previously, Mohr was deputy general counsel and assistant secretary. He also has been responsible for oversight of the litigation, regulatory, corporate and general practice groups. When Mohr joined Amway in 1987, he established and managed the intellectual property group and had responsibility for legal issues that involved technological content, including intellectual property, regulatory and litigation matters.
Before coming to Amway, Mohr worked for 15 years in the private sector, first as a design engineer in General Electric’s nuclear energy division, then as a patent attorney and partner in a Grand Rapids, Michigan law firm.
Mohr earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University and received his juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.
