Amway Russia established the Mompreneur program in 2013 through its Amway Charity Foundation to help female entrepreneurs start their own businesses and implement business ideas that they could not realize themselves. The program provides education and grants and is designed specifically for women on maternity leave and mothers of underage children, as well as women who are registered with the employment service.

Free Mompreneur training takes the form of a five-day intensive training with immersion in business education, the development of business plans and mentoring support. Successful entrepreneurs and experts educate participants on taxation and provide practical advice on launching and promoting a business.

The training culminates with a competition among participants in which an expert jury assesses their business plans on economic validity, originality and social significance. A winner is selected in each of the 20 cities where Mompreneur operates and receives a grant of 200,00 rubles to support their business startup.

“Mompreneur helps not only to support the development of small businesses and self-employment, but it also has the powerful social effects of stability and self-realization for young enterprising women who wish to successfully combine career and family,” says Anna Soshinskaya, president of the Amway Charity Foundation.

Mompreneur originated in four cities in Russia but has since expanded to 58 cities and operates in partnership with government and industry organizations such as the federal corporation on development of small and mid-sized businesses, the Women’s Committee of OPORA Rossii (Russia’s largest association of small and mid-sized businesses) and the Public Chamber of Russian Federation.

The methodology of Amway’s Global Entrepreneurial Report (AGER) is at the heart of a new study launched by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Rostov Region. The study will be conducted through May 2019 and is aimed at developing a profile of the image of an entrepreneur in South Russia.

At a recent conference that kicked off the research phase of this study, Amway presented the results of AGER and stressed the importance of a positive public perception for the entrepreneurship institution in society. For more details about the project, visit https://business.expertsouth.ru/
