DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME: Amway puts cola through an eSpring water treatment system

Messy demonstrations will often void warranties and ruin cartridges, Amway video shows power of eSpring without the consequences

ADA, Mich., Dec. 14, 2016 – A water filter that turns cola into water? While it is not an official company claim, a video showing exactly that has become very popular with consumers.  So, Amway created its own version of the video as a dramatization of the eSpring™ water treatment system’s performance.

Running cola through the system will void product warranties and likely ruin your cartridge. That’s why Amway sent a camera crew into its labs to capture Amway Product Engineer Rob Missman demonstrating the eSpring™ system’s performance by showing its ability to convert the sticky, syrupy consistency of cola into clear, clean water.

“While we do not recommend you try this at home,” Missman said. “It is an impressive demonstration we are happy to conduct to show the eSpring™ system’s performance when filtering contaminants.”

The eSpring™ system is recognized for quality and performance by several third-party organizations, including NSF International, the Water Quality Association and Frost & Sullivan, which in October gave Amway a seventh consecutive “Asia Pacific Water Treatment Company of the Year” award.

While those recognitions build credibility with consumers, sometimes simple demonstrations are more powerful, like turning cola into water. That is not what Amway engineers had in mind when they designed the eSpring™ system, which is only designed to be used with water approved for drinking by public health authorities.

The eSpring™ water treatment system effectively removes more than 140 potential health-effect contaminants that may be present in your drinking water. The carbon block filter used in the eSpring™ system has more than 435,000 square meters of surface area. If that surface area were laid out in a 1-cm-wide strip, it would be more than long enough to circle the earth.
