Jon Sherk

Jon Sherk is Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Secretary to the Board of Directors for the Amway group of companies. He leads Amway’s legal, compliance, government affairs and corporate secretary functions, supported by a global team of approximately 200 professionals.

Sherk reports to CEO Michael Nelson and serves on Amway’s Global Leadership Team, the key executive decision-making body, body focused on shaping global strategy, strengthening company culture and enhancing Amway Business Owner and customer experiences. He advises senior leadership and the Board on global legal, regulatory; compliance and public affairs matters.

Sherk joined Amway in 1997. Throughout his tenure, he has held various portfolios and served as Deputy General Counsel for nearly a decade prior to taking on his current role. Previously, he practiced domestic and international business and finance law at Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss in Detroit, Mich. He also served as an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan and a juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School. Sherk studied in India during high school as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student and later at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, as a Rotary Foundation Scholar, focusing on Hindi and Urdu.

Sherk is a past board member of Better Business Bureau in Western Michigan and In the Image, which serves families in crises in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
