Dr. Purnima Kumar is an endowed professor of Dentistry and Chair of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan (U of M) School of Dentistry. She is the University’s Principal Investigator of Oral Microbial Ecology Laboratory, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Dr. Kumar is a Fellow of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program, the American Association of Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research and the American and International College of Dentists. She also collaborates extensively with the oral healthcare industry to develop therapeutics for microbial modulation.
