ADA, MICH., USA, October 23, 2026 – A dedication to scientific innovation often demands a meeting of the best scientific minds. These critical collaborations are built into the ethos of Amway, the world’s largest direct selling company.* Its latest initiative is an expanded collaboration with Linus Pauling Institute, a renowned research hub at Oregon State University that exists “to promote optimal health through cutting-edge research and trusted public outreach”.
In 2021, Amway embarked on the first phase of engagement with Linus Pauling Institute, establishing the Amway Healthspan Fund to support emerging perspectives on the role of gut health and microbiome in healthspan – the number of years a person is able to enjoy an active, independent life. These research articles are housed on Linus Pauling Institute’s Micronutrient Information Center, a trusted database of scientifically accurate nutrition information on the roles vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and other dietary factors play in helping to promote health and wellbeing. This online portal is one of the most visited sites at Oregon State University, with more than 1.5 million users from almost every country on the planet. In 2025, Amway helped fund research exploring the role gut health plays in healthy aging. Conducted by Linus Pauling Institute, the research was published in a peer-reviewed paper in Advances in Nutrition.
This second phase of collaboration focuses on three additional areas that play a critical role in impacting healthspan: metabolic health, cognition, and the role of antioxidants in cellular health.
“The Linus Pauling Institute is internationally recognized for its research leadership and as a preeminent authority in advancing knowledge of the critical role of phytonutrients in human health,” notes Amway Senior Open Innovation Scientist Sudhir Baswan, PhD. “This expanded work significantly deepens our scientific understanding and consensus regarding how plant-based compounds, dietary patterns, and comprehensive nutrition profoundly influence and advance healthspan. We view our collaboration as an invaluable opportunity to build upon the monumental contributions of scientific giants, most notably the Institute’s namesake.” The Institute honors the legacy of Linus Pauling, one of the 20th century’s most brilliant scientific minds, uniquely distinguished as the sole individual to receive two unshared Nobel Prizes – for Chemistry in 1954 and for Peace in 1962.
Amway Scientific Advisory Board Member and Endowed Chair and Director of Linus Pauling Institute Emily Ho, PhD, concurs, “Nutrition is central to moving healthspan forward, as it impacts health systemically throughout the body.” Recognized for her contributions in personalized nutrition for healthy aging, Dr. Ho is also a Distinguished Professor in the College of Health at Oregon State University.
“With so much misinformation out there, the science can’t stay in the lab,” adds Dr. Ho. “We must convey actionable findings and make them accessible to all people through research outlets like the Micronutrient Information Center.”
“This expanded collaboration strengthens our support of the Institute’s pursuit of scientific knowledge and discovery,” affirms Amway Chief Research and Development Officer Kristi Pelc. “It further demonstrates our commitment and focus on healthspan and instills confidence in our Amway Business Owners and their customers around the world.”
