As Chief Human Resource Officer, Gretchen Payne partners with enterprise leadership to foster a values-based, people-first culture for Amway’s nearly 14,000 employees worldwide.

She reports directly to the CEO Michael Nelson and serves on Amway’s Global Leadership Team, the key executive decision-making body focused on shaping global strategy, strengthening company culture and enhancing Amway Business Owner and customer experiences.

Payne is an innovative and results-oriented HR leader with extensive global experience. Since she joined Amway in 2007, she has served in key leadership roles in Human Resources and Strategy, including Vice President of Global Talent Management, spearheading the global Business Innovation team and HR Director, leading Latin America markets. Most recently, she led the global Human Resources Centers of Excellence, helping deliver programs and tools to support employee development, rewards programs and digital employee experiences.

Throughout her tenure, Gretchen has demonstrated a proven ability to develop long term human capital strategies and drive large scale organizational change efforts in agile and innovative ways. She played a pivotal role in implementing Amway’s first global HR Information System and established and deployed the Global Succession Management Process.

Payne is a graduate of Calvin University and received a master’s degree in business from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad Graduate School of Business. She serves on the U.S.A. Fencing Michigan Division Board of Directors.
