6 essential tips for creating an ultra-productive workspace

Studies have found that having a cluttered or disorganized workspace can negatively affect your ability to focus and get stuff done.

Make your workspace a place of productivity and organization with these six workspace upgrades.

Clean:

As the saying goes, “A clean space equals a clear mind.” Start from scratch and clean your space. Remove everything from your desk and do a deep clean. Be sure to wipe down your computer, keyboard, mouse and phone, too. Keep Amway HomeTML.O.C.TMMulti-Purpose Wipes on hand for weekly wipe-downs after your initial deep clean.

Reduce distractions:

Stay focused by eliminating excess noise in your workspace. It could be as simple as shutting the door or using a white noise machine to keep the external sound to a minimum. If you’re someone who prefers working to chill beats, set up a playlist with some songs that will help you in the productivity zone – and you could try investing in a set of noise-canceling headphones to keep out distracting sounds.

Stock up:

Depending on the kind of work you do, you’ll need a variety of supplies: pens, sticky notes, chargers, etc. But, make sure these are all put in their place with easy access. Continually needing to get up and retrieve the necessary tools for your work will set you back and leave you frustrated.

Set yourself up for success by keeping your workstation stocked and organized. Make sure you have all your office supplies at hand, with pencils sharpened and back-up pens at the ready. Keep an extra phone charger at your desk to keep your phone fully juiced and stash a few munchies (like BodyKeyTM  by NutriliteTM snacks) at your desk to keep your brain fueled all day.

Some people even pre-order materials they know they’ll need every month, like printer ink and paper.

Take a Brain Break:

To maximize productivity, don’t forget to give your brain a break. Try taking a 10-minute break every 45 mins to see if that helps clear your mind. Rather than switching to scroll your social feeds, try doing some stretches, meditate, try to power through some light housework or even pop out for some fresh air. Try different time blocks until you find the groove that works for you.

Go Green:

Looking to add a little bit of life to your workspace? Add some indoor plants! Living plants have been shown to improve air quality and reduce stress in workspaces. Some easy-to-care-for plants include:

  • Succulents
  • Cacti
  • Bamboo
  • Aloe
  • Peace lilies
  • Snake plants

As an extra step, you could add an AtmosphereTM Sky air treatment system, which combines our particle sensor with a three-stage filtration system for cleaner air, filtering out more than 300 types of contaminants like viruses, allergens, bacteria, mold and mildew.

Make it Yours:

Whether you’re at a cubical or in a classroom, how your workspace makes you feel can affect how you work. Since you probably spend more time at work than you do at home, personalize your space so it’s comfortable and cozy. Whether it’s a photo of your family, simple splashes of your favorite color or even fuzzy rug, find a few things that make your place yours and will make you smile even during the longest of days.

One of the best-kept secrets of the most productive people is that they are comfortable in their workspaces. Try some of these tips and see how your productivity improves!
